About these trippy coloring pages

Trippy line art is the opposite of a colouring page for a child: instead of a few big shapes it gives you hundreds of small closed regions and lets you decide where one form ends and the next begins. Melting checkerboards, spiralling tunnels, eyes inside flowers, mushrooms growing out of clouds.

Most of this set is dense adult work made for long sessions. A few simpler pages — a single swirl, one melting shape, a plain spiral — give a way in without the density. The pattern and illusion pages reward a systematic approach; the cosmic and surreal pages reward a wild one. Every page prints free on US Letter or A4 as a PDF or a PNG.

Coloring tips and activities

  • Pick a limited palette before you start — four or five shades. Psychedelic art looks best when the shapes are wild and the colour is disciplined.
  • On the spiral and tunnel pages, work outward from the centre and shift shade every two or three rings. The movement comes from the sequence, not from any single colour.
  • Leave roughly a fifth of the regions white. Dense pages need breathing space or they turn into mud.
  • On the optical illusion pages, colour the shapes that belong together in the same tone. That is what makes the illusion actually work.
