About these octopus coloring pages
The octopus is a gift to colorists: one head, eight curling arms and rows of round suckers give you endless shapes to fill. These original designs run from a big smiling octopus with chunky arms for preschoolers to lifelike reef dwellers and ornate mandala-arm octopuses that reward a slow evening.
The Easy set keeps single friendly octopuses with thick outlines and big simple shapes, while the detailed scenes add coral reefs, sunken ships and swirling patterns. All free to print on US Letter or A4 as PDF or PNG.
Coloring tips and activities
- Octopuses come in every shade, so you are free: warm coral pinks and oranges, deep sea purples, or a mottled sandy brown all look right.
- Color the suckers a touch lighter than the arms, working from a pale center out to a darker rim, for an easy sense of roundness.
- Leave small white highlights on the top of the head and along the curl of each arm to suggest a wet, glistening surface.
- For reef scenes, keep the octopus your boldest color and let the coral and water stay soft, so your star does not get lost in the background.
