About these narwhal coloring pages
The narwhal is the ocean's own tusked wonder: a round, friendly body, a wide tail fluke, and that famous long spiral tusk twisting straight out from its snout. These original designs range from chubby cartoon narwhals with big simple shapes to carefully drawn arctic scenes for slower, detailed coloring.
The Easy pages are single smiling narwhals with thick outlines — blowing bubbles, balancing a heart on the tusk, curled up for a nap. The Detailed pages build whole underwater worlds: coral reefs, sunken treasure, pods gliding beneath icebergs and a lifelike tusk close-up. All free to print on US Letter or A4 as PDF or PNG.
Coloring tips and activities
- Keep the belly and tusk pale — a light gray or cream body with a bright teal or blue back gives narwhals their classic ocean look while the spiral tusk stays soft and creamy.
- Follow the twist of the spiral tusk with a thin line of shadow along one side so the groove reads as a real spiral rather than a flat cone.
- Leave the bubbles white and edge them with a thin line of blue — solid-colored bubbles lose their float.
- For the arctic and iceberg scenes, keep the ice mostly white with only faint blue-gray shadows so it reads as bright, cold and glassy.
Frequently asked questions
- Are these narwhal coloring pages free to print?
- Yes — every page is free for personal and classroom use. Print at US Letter or A4 size, or download the PDF or PNG.
- Is the narwhal's tusk a real tooth?
- Yes — that long spiral tusk is actually an overgrown tooth that grows out through the lip, and it can spiral to several feet long. It's the most fun part of every page to color.
- Which pages suit toddlers and preschoolers?
- The Easy set — the smiling narwhal, the bubble blower and the sleepy curled narwhal — uses extra-thick outlines and big simple shapes for little hands.
