About these koala coloring pages
Koalas are a joy to color: those big fuzzy ears, a broad leathery nose and paws made for hugging a branch. This set runs from round cartoon koalas clinging to little trees to carefully observed wild koalas asleep in a fork of eucalyptus, so there's a page whether you want a quick five minutes or a slow, detailed afternoon.
The Easy pages are chubby kawaii koalas with thick simple outlines — a sitting koala, a curled sleeper, a joey riding on its mother's back. The Detailed pages spell out real anatomy: the dense woolly coat, the round tufted ears and the strong claws that grip the bark. All free to print on US Letter or A4 as PDF or PNG.
Coloring tips and activities
- Koalas are mostly soft gray — layer a cool gray over a warm gray and leave the chest, chin and inner ears pale so the fluffy coat looks soft rather than solid.
- The nose is the star: color it a deep warm brown or charcoal and keep it smooth and dark so it stands out against all that woolly fur.
- Fill the ears with light, feathery strokes radiating outward to sell the tufted fur, and leave a few white gaps at the edges for a fluffy rim.
- Eucalyptus leaves take a soft blue-green — layer sage over a touch of teal on the long slender leaves and keep the branches a warm woody brown.
