About these duck coloring pages
Ducks are a joy to color: a plump rounded body, a broad flat bill, a smooth head and neat webbed feet. These original designs run from chubby cartoon ducks and ducklings with big simple shapes to carefully drawn pond scenes for a slower, detailed afternoon.
The Easy pages are single smiling ducks with thick outlines — splashing in a puddle, flapping its wings, floating on gentle ripples. The Detailed pages build whole scenes: reedy ponds, a hen leading her ducklings, a duck taking flight and a lifelike feather portrait. All free to print on US Letter or A4 as PDF or PNG.
Coloring tips and activities
- Keep the bill and webbed feet a warm orange and the body a soft yellow or brown — a little shading under the wing and chin gives the round shape some depth.
- For the water, leave most of it white and add only a few curved ripple lines in pale blue so the duck really floats rather than sinking into solid color.
- On the realistic ducks, follow the feather rows in short overlapping strokes, keeping the head smooth and glossy and the wing feathers crisper toward the tips.
- Fuzzy ducklings look softest with light, feathery strokes and a pale body — leave a highlight on the round head so it reads as downy.
