About these cake coloring pages
A cake is a stack of circles, and that makes it forgiving line art. The easy pages start there: one round cake with three candles, a single slice on a plate, a cupcake and a cake on a stand, all with thick outlines and wide open bands to fill in.
The rest of the set gets ambitious. Tiered wedding cakes with piped scrollwork, a cut cake showing its layers, a bakery counter of stands and domes, and a decorated cake in the middle of being iced. Detailed pages work fine piping, lace and flower work into every tier. Every page prints free on US Letter or A4 as a PDF or a PNG.
Coloring tips and activities
- Colour the frosting and the sponge in different tones and leave a thin white line between them — the cake instantly looks layered.
- Do the piping and the sprinkles last, in the strongest shade you have, so they sit on top of everything else.
- Leave the plate and the stand almost white. A pale stand makes the cake look like it is being presented.
- On a tiered cake, make each tier a slightly different shade of one colour rather than three different colours.
